Swine flu (H1N1) vaccine at Freedom Hill

"It is cool to be healthy" a sticker given at the Freedom Hill office this morning for children who got their noses sprayed with the Swine Flu vaccine.

FREE H1N1 vaccine clinics have been set up at the Freedom Hill park in Sterling Heights, MI.

On Oct 28 and 29,2009, intranasal spray will be given .
This intranasal H1N1 vaccine is for healthy non-pregnant persons who:

- are from 2 through 24 years of age
- are from 25 through 49 years of age and live with, or care for infants younger than 6 months of age
- are health care or emergency medical personnel and are from 25 through 49 years of age

On Oct 30 and 31, the vaccine will be given in an injectible form.
This injectable H1N1 vaccine is for:

- Pregnant women
- New parents and household contacts of children <6 months of age
- Health Care workers and Emergency Service sector personnel (regardless of age)
- All people from 6 months through 24 years of age Adults (aged 25-65 yrs) with medical conditions that increase risk of complications of influenza

Swine Flu fear spreads in India #swineflu

The Government in the Western Indian State of Maharashtra has decided to close down all schools, colleges, cinema halls and malls in the Pune area from today in an attempt to stop the spread of swine flu in the state. In addition movie theaters will be shut for three days. This after 3 of the 6 swine flu related deaths in India have occurred in Maharashtra. (via Mid-Day).

Michigan Schools react to Swine Flu

Plymouth Canton Schools in Michigan, the district I live is closed today and was closed yesterday because of suspected Swine Flu case. Its the 3rd largest school district in Michigan with approximately 19,000 students. There are other schools which are closed here in the Metro Detroit area also. (source Detroit Free Press)

Last week I created a Google Map+Twitter Swine Flu Map which showed tweets from various regions in United States and Europe.

So how worried are folks in Michigan about Swine Flu. Here's a look at folks are tweeting about Swine Flu on Twitter. With Lansing, Michigan as base I searched for Tweets within 175 miles radius from Lansing, Michigan. Check out the Swine Flu related tweets in Michigan in this Google Maps Mashup.
